  1. RBC is going to be the first ad on the Montreal Canadiens jersey. Not sure if the NHL jerseys are going to go the way of European hockey teams where advertisements are printed into the fabric all over the place instead of a patch. https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/canadiens-announce-rbc-as-first-official-game-jersey-partner/c-335520044
  2. I've never had issues with holders, my last Bauers had Tuuk Lightspeed2. Current CCM skates have the SpeedBlade +4.0
  3. Money and time. Wood plugs also had a bit of the heat-activated glue. That alone meant a person in a factory had to heat it up before shoving it in.
  4. He's starting this season with 780 total goals. Gordie Howe's record stands at 801 goals and Wayne Gretzky's record stands at 894 goals. I don't know if Alex Ovechkin can beat Wayne's record before he retires. 1. Alex doesn't have an enforcer like Marty McSorley like Wayne did.2. i think it might take 3 seasons to get close to it. The COVID-19 shutdown ruined his chance of getting to it earlier. As he gets older, he can still play, like Jaromir Jagr did, but his speed and power will start to decline so 50+ goal seasons will be harder to do.
  5. You can use boiling hot water. That's something to clean the inside of the glove, but will also soften the glove to close better. There's no more real leather in goalie gloves. It's artificial leather, not sure if lanolin is going to work.
  6. $119 for the abductor weighted slide device seems a bit steep.
  7. I agree with you. There are a lot of dryland exercises that work the muscles that these Dri-blades are activating. I'm not saying Dri-blades don't work as they claim to. But, if you are already have access to a gym, there are machines and equipment that can activate muscles that you use in skating. The only plus I see is doing dryland shooting/puck handling drills and not having to have a shorter stick than what you use on ice.
  8. I don't want to sound like Captain Obvious, but if you have both helmets, have you tried doing it?
  9. How do you guesstimate the demand for left hand sticks versus right hand sticks of the same model? Or is that a secret you keep? I've noticed the larger the store, there's almost an equal number of left and right hand sticks. And the smaller the store, there are more right hand sticks than left hand sticks. And with goalie sticks, I see way more left sticks than right sticks almost all of the time as there are more right-handed people.
  10. Remove the +2 forward lean and keep the 9-10. It will grind a bunch of metal off to get back to what it was before. If he wants more cut while accelerating or turning, remove the +2 forward lean and then you could try a 8-10 or 7-10, or maybe a triple or quad profile with the front radius being small. Just for reference for others who are more knowledgeable in profiling, what is his height and weight, and skate size, and position?
  11. You could try carbon fiber epoxy, but you can't get a small bottle of the hardener and resin.
  12. Maybe they outsource the blades so quality control is poor. I had the same problem with adult blades for a Tuuk Lightspeed 2 holder. You could send the blades to a shop that removes front and back build up. Or, have the blades reprofiled for aggressive pitch but with the same radius. Or have the blades get a multi-radius profile with a shorter profile in the front than in the back. Considering you have 3 sets of blades, send one set to get reprofiled at a skate shop and explain to them he is experiencing the effect of a negative pitch (feels like he's leaning backwards).
  13. I had JDP elbow caps on a Koho goalie chest protector. Never had elbow problems .
  14. Kind of a crazy design. CCM AS-V is probably the way to go if one likes the old-fashioned, decades old, vintage design, reliable and protective, JDP elbow cap.
  15. I would understand not being allowed to take pictures in the restroom or locker room, but in the public areas, what would be the reasoning? People take pictures during hockey games and practices and figure skating.
  16. Yeah, I've gotten self-injured on the ice. The concept of buying top-of-the-line equipment even if I'm not in a high-level league becomes more important as I am older and more susceptible to injury in a non-checking, intermediate-level league. 😂
  17. Any of the latest pro-level shoulder pads should be sufficient. 10+ year old pads may have had degraded foams in the shoulder caps, or your body is breaking down and it wouldn't have mattered what kind of shoulder pads you were wearing, you would have experienced the same injury.
  18. Looks like it came in 4 sizes. I'm guessing it doesn't fit you. If you measure your hat size and your head is too big for the mask, then you know it is smaller than whatever your hat size is. You could ask around for people who have a smaller hat size than you can measure their head and then they can try the mask on. https://www.purehockey.com/product/hackva-2608-texalium-goalie-mask-senior/itm/517-41/ Helmet Size Junior Small Medium Large Head Circumference (in) 20.2 - 20.5 20.5 - 21.25 21.25 - 22.75 22.75 - 23.8 Hat Size 6 1/4 - 6 1/2 6 1/2 - 6 3/4 6 3/4 - 7 1/4 7 1/4 - 7 5/8
  19. No point in relation to the thread topic. Just asking if you heard about the Burns' San Jose to Carolina trade.
  20. Do you get any extra swag with your custom skates?
  21. You read about the Brent Burns trade to the Carolina Hurricanes?
  22. Maybe Warrior or TRUE Sports. $70 million/season seems to be so high that a manufacturer won't break even in profit on jerseys, replicas and team apparel.
