P88 vs. P89 Curve/Experience with it?
the_game replied to theHamburglar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Close...the correct answer was Craig Darby, https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=1255 Warrior had the curve as the Weight and Vanek at retail. Back in the day Bauer had the Pattern at retail as the P89 as well as the Mogilny, Innovative even had the curve at retail too as the Mogilny. Easton also has it as the 'Darby' but I don't think I ever saw it as a retail curve as I've only picked them up as pro stock. I also think Sher-wood had something very close at retail in the 90's but I can't remember who it was under, maybe Wendel Clark. -
Hey @Krev from what I've heard there is no amount of money in this world to get Pat to work on a pair of Easton 9500. I've heard through the grapevine that the whole 'Modano'-made custom Warrior '9500' broke Pats will to ever look at those gloves again, ha! For the Eagles, a buddy got some sort Leather'esque customs made not too long ago but it sounds like thats no longer an option. Apologies for the confusion and thats just sad to hear as Eagles for the longest time were a great custom option.

P88 vs. P89 Curve/Experience with it?
the_game replied to theHamburglar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Retail 10 years ago? Ha, the P89, Mogilny, Darby, Weight, Vanek, etc. curve has been out there for almost 25 years! As a devout P89 user I would have to say its more of a 'tweaked' PM9 or a stepped on/flattened P92 than a tweaked P88. The P89 is a slight middle of the blade wedge but gives you just enough curve to enhance shooting and still be able to stick handle and use your backhand. I'd also say that the P89 plays closer to 5/5.5 lie than the 6 Lie that the P88 has. The P88 curve also starts deeper in the blade or closer to the heel if that makes sense. For me the P89 gives me more real estate on the blade where I feel comfortable stickhandling or releasing shots from. I've tried the P88 and personally I just don't feel comfortable with that mid curve to get shots off quickly or with the same accuracy I have with the P89. The other big difference for me is the flatness of the overall blade and especially at the toe that the P88 has versus how the toe is more shaved down and the blade profile rockered on the P89. That shaved/rockered toe on the P89 fits my shooting style/release whereas with the P88 I can't get the same leverage or kick when shooting off the toe. A lot of this is being a creature of habit, the 'P89' has been my go-to curve for the better part of 20-something years (yes, I'm old). I've tried everything and anything in between from Retail offerings to Pro-stocks and I still end up back with the P89. If you have any questions or want more info please don't hesitate to hit me up! -
Eagle will still make something close to the H34 I think. Between looking at what CPR does & an old episode of 'how its made', as long as you have one of those industrial sewing machines and know how to use it I'd say you can probably build your own glove to a certain extent or at least rebuild/modify an existing pair.

Glad to see Black Ice win it and get past the Snipers in the process to avenge last years loss. Also love seeing the Long Island crews both get to the finals (Not counting the Snipers and all their hired mercenaries, ha).

aw man @IPv6Freely hang in there and hope you and the wife feel better. Not sure theres anything much worse than medical condition uncertainty and to top it off the nurse just throwing out a positive covid diagnosis for your wife.

Inline has been on life support for some time now.

I just don't think the risk is worth it at this point and figure people will see that, just my $.02

where can I bet on the season not happening, I'd put all my money on that.
-
Why bother at this point? Even if they scrap the season and try to start on time or close to it for next season it sounds as if that might be damn near impossible so why bother trying to get something going now. Might be a different conversation, and this whole thing might have me jaded, but I'm at the point where I don't care if the league comes back. Would I watch, maybe. But at this point in time I have so much other nonsense to deal with that the last thing on my mind is a pro sports leagues who's owners are desperate for revenue and players basing their return around salary escrow.

Get me my lawyer on line 1, I got a copyright infringement case!

I'm still waiting for the next email from HKYGURU from the Easton Message board after getting picked to be a product tester for them...anyone remember that? The toy drive from Easton was an awesome promo as well, ah memories!

That Bauer Puck has been around forever under a few different names, surprised its still around and being used with how bad it is compared to an IDS or Rocket Puck. I think the IDS actually plays a little faster and doesn't bobble as much as the Rocket but in terms of weight and feel you can't beat the Rocket puck. That Verbero puck was the real deal. Unfortunately I stopped playing roller when that thing came out but I remember playing with one and everyone couldn't believe how good it was it.

Can I get my new Bauer skates with a P91 Curve on the Tendon Guard instead of the P28 curve pictured?

@Cavs019 my mind isn't as sharp as it used to be, it actually might've been on the OG Easton Hockey Message board! But yeah the original composite full length Tapered blades for the T-flex were otherworldly in terms of puck feel and release/kickpoint. Once Easton went with the short hosel tapered blades for the blade/shaft combo they lost all feel and kick. I even remember when HockeyMonkey cleaned out the Warrior stash of Pro Stock shafts & blades, the Warrior blades had a slightly longer hosel than the typical short hosel blades and the responsiveness and kick on those were great. I always keep my eyes peeled for old school blades but they never seem to pop up.
-
Granted this was a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away but...if I remember correctly I felt like the T-Flex's I had with standard hosel blades had a much better kick point and energy transfer when shooting, felt much more like a Synergy or one piece. The short hosel tapered bladed always felt kind of dead and never gave the same kick. I would bet you could feel a difference with the blade thats in the second TPS shaft, it looks like the hosel is slightly longer. Just my $.02, theres a very good chance I'm crazy and with my skill level you wouldn't see a difference in my shooting if I was using a hockey stick or a boat oar.
-
Great collection there! How does the T-flex shoot with the shortened hosel blades? Always thought the T-flex needed a standard hosel blade to get the desired low kick point.

what tape/grip youre using for your knob?
the_game replied to MikeJames's topic in General Hockey Discussions
Tacki-Mac all the way! And as much as I love them for saving palms, I love them more for the grip it gives you on the top hand. Personally I find I shoot better/stickhandle better as I get more control from the grip the Tacki-Mac has over cloth tape or grip tape or regular tape.
