how they are selling the product has no bearing on the validity of this thread. Just because Warrior/Bauer/CCM distributes its product through your LHS/Big Box/ETC, they still want you to buy their product over the competitors, and have countless times mentioned their features or added performance benefits. The difference here is that the Sparx is a high costed, niche product that wouldn't do as well at a LHS due to the cost, nor is likely wanted due to the perceived competition. There is no different dynamic here, other than vitriol, as 75 percent of sparx posts on this thread lately have to do with responses to those same 3 you mentioned. People ask questions, they answer. All they have asked for thus far is an open mind, not an open pocketbook. I have no desire to own one, but I do enjoy reading about it.

they didn't even start the thread. If you want the post removed just because a manufacturer has added input or answered questions, then half of the posts on the site will have to be removed out of fairness. Do you make this same argument when a stick manufacturer answers questions about its product? its not like they are constantly bumping the thread, sending out promotions, or specifically even telling people to buy a sparx. they have simply been answering questions/addressing concerns.

there are a number of people on this board that are doing so, but lets face it, the vast majority of skate buyers aren't even aware of how the mako works etc, or even what is or whats not on the horizon, they just see that sticker price. sorry about sounding like a dick the first part of my comment, running on short sleep due to shift change and used a poor wording. that part is a huge reason why I'm probably just using the m8s I purchased for inline (or if I don't like the conversion, selling them). I use my foot a lot, and my 50k are the best shot blocking skates ive owned to date. I'm not big on shot blockers personally so id prefer to avoid those. the makos seem very lacking in protection although I haven't even worn mine as I'm awaiting conversion and bake.

I think its fairly clear that he meant the CXN hasn't been in production for so long that there is a strong back demand for the holders to continue production of them, coupled with the issues they have had with boot durability and the fact that more people prefer to tear off the CXN holders and strap some tuuks on. They are selling like crazy mostly because the price is slashed over half, just like any other similar clearance product. if it was just a fear over not being able to find something with a similar fit, they wouldn't have to go that drastic with the price drops. I think sometimes our view of the market is clouded by reading so many opinions of gearheads on these forums that we don't just realize this is a normal consumer reaction to a price drop this significant. the MX3 skate released after the mako2 and is far more sparse in sizes available with less of a price drop.

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
Stewie replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
looking to convert some M8s, and trying to decide between hi/lo or a labeda chassis. outside my normal preferences, does anyone know any advantage/drawback to one or the other on that boot?- 2846 replies

I love the lace locks on my 50Ks, that said, with how tight of a fit the makos are and with how good they wrap post bake I couldn't imagine needing them on my M8s I just purchased to convert, unless maybe you are a half size too big and really want to clamp down you should be good without them.

you mean to tell me Carey Price isn't pullin skates off shelves at his local Sportchek?
-
well there are a lot of crappy looking skates out at the moment. i mean i used both mid end alkali and u10s as an example and i owned and love both (maybe more so the alkali than the u10s) performance/cost wise. Grafs also inherently suffer from me for having the worst looking holders on the market, so that isnt adding anything to it. This photo just looks like a tier 4 skate to me, minus maybe the actual materials the quarter is made of vs the aesthetics.
-
not really. it looks like a low level alkali and low level vapor skate had a kid, and let it run around without a diaper on. edit: CCM u10 might be a better example than the vapor

let me know how you like the 48s. I have the 50s and love them, but may be looking to get a pair of the 48s when they go to closeout so that i can convert to inline. Same size even! also it may have even been worse as i was a 6.5 in the RBZ but fit in a 7.5 ribcor. =)

if it's just BFD then probably no reason to invest in the machine for me with access to close FBV. Still looks an interesting machine to me.

All kidding aside, the skate boxes can make great cat beds. I took a piece of carpet padding and cut it to the bottom dimensions and threw some fabric on it, put it in front of the window, and my cat sleeps in it half the day

Whatever LHS you have that gives you a free cat with purchase, hook me up with the details, because I'm sold.

In that case, Jonathan Ericsson on the Wings is 6'4 220, and not only do opposing forwards camp in the crease with him, but he brings the graham crackers for the smores. I wouldnt necessarily look at raw measurables and say someone is any better or worse at clearing a crease.
-
I believe he is referring to the fact that Chiarelli traded away Seguin when he was with the Bruins and than now Hall with the Oilers. they were taken 1 and 2 in 2010.
-
and i think that may be shorter term than ever. Weber will have to get used to playing with an alright, but aging and nowhere near as effective D partner in Markov now, vs having Suter or Josi back on the blue line with him. Nashvilles D is going to be scary and for years to come. I really think montreal could have asked and gotten more in return than they did this deal, hell not even any picks or recent draftees.

Outstanding! Although obviously for selfish reasons I wish he'd have chosen Michigan, but I am sure he will do a kick ass job at Vassar. You have to be phenomenal to land a marriage with the captain of the LI Lightning,

Excited to see you back out on the ice in bahston!

I know someone had mentioned that the savoy shaft was boxy, are any of your shaft options less boxy?- 114 replies

yeah if i lived in a market like that, NHL tv would be a must. Luckily not only do we have good Wings coverage here, but even during the regular season i can get a lot of extra games on NBCSN and CBC. As it stands i really dont have a reason to make the investment.
-
its probably your market, provider, or some combination of the two. Most days here I have options for up to three games at a time (CBC, NBC, and FSD). If you are talking about highlights via ESPN, that ship has sailed years ago, They don't have NHL broadcast rights, so its not in their best interest to be NHL hype boys. Their entire NHL team is like Melrose and 10% of Buccigross.

I do not believe the EK60 has changed. The update was the EK60 instead of the EK15, hence his noting of the addition of graphene. The EK60 was released September 2015 so it was not on the 2015 catalogue.

You're going to miss out on like 30 cents of bank interest.

They have had other delays too. Either way it should be a sweet car for you and the bright side will be you have a 2019 vs 2018 model
