  1. No, Bauer is telling Bridgestone and Michelin to stop making tires that violate their parents. There is a major difference. It's their IP and they have every right to defend it. I don't know why people seem to gloss over that. Furthermore, Step knew they were violating Bauer's patents which is why they wouldn't sell Step edge in the US and their steel was stamped Not for sale in the US.
  2. Haven't they already gone down that path? Bauer defended their patent to get customers to buy Bauer steel. Ccm bought a very highly regarded steel manufacturer to get customers to either buy their skates or swap out their holders for a ccm. FWIW, what ccm did was a bit more douchy than Bauer. CCM's play was a total c**k block.
  3. No go on the RX3's. I really want to like them but something about how they fit just doesn't work for me. I was very impressed with how light they are and how little moisture they absorbed after playing. They are worth a look though. So close to being exactly what I had wanted.
  4. Yeah, it's getting old fast. Those 10:30 games when it's 15 degrees out are especially bad. Although it did get me to try a full length lower base layer, which I gotta say is pretty damn comfortable.
  5. I got my STX RX3 shoulders last night. They certainly are light and form fitting. With the exception of the bicep guards, the overall bulk of the pad doesn’t seem to be any more or less bulky than my Stealth CX7.0’s. They look to be a decent set of shoulders for the money. The 14 day trial and price was enough to get me to give them a go.
  6. There's an old saying, it's not the hammer, it's the carpenter. IMO, kick point has zero impact on where the puck ends up, i.e. low or high. That's more a technique. Some patterns make certain things easier. For example, open face patterns help the user get the puck up high but it won't do it for you. Also, there is no right or wrong, better or worse when it comes to curves paired with kick points. A hockey stick is a tool. Some tools make jobs easier, others can make them a bit more difficult. You aren't looking for the best tool, you're looking for the tool that best suits you. My recommendation to all new players is a mid kick P88.
  7. I recently bought an AX9 pro stock from IW. I got the 75 which is what I usually use. It felt a bit whipper than other 75 flex sticks. If I were buy another, I'd look to jump up to an 80. Really nice stick, loved the look. Blade was maybe a bit too stiff for my liking. Unfortunately, the custom Hornqvist pattern just wasn't for me so I had to find it a new home.
  8. To me the big thing there is the tendon guard. Could the vapor be getting it's own flexible tendon guard?? 🤔
  9. Yeah, that's what I figured. Your list prompted me to check out the STX shoulders, which I ended up buying. They looked very CL/RBZ like. As for the availability of RBZ gear. You see some here and there but very hit or miss. Yeah, the QLT was pretty disappointing. Seemed like a cost reduced RBZ line to me. Glad CCM got things back on track with the FT1.
  10. The only shins I've ever worn where I really didn't need tape. I might break mine out again. They were shelved in favor of the Tacks due to the liners wearing away around the knee caps. Which was my only real gripe.
  11. Sorry guys. I must have ditched it. I definitely used easton blades around then and I do recall euro 'something' on one of them. Based on what I used back then, it was a giant mid curve, like a Coffey.
  12. IMO the conversation starts and ends with the RBZ and or the CL lines. Not sure about the pants.
  13. I think I have a Euro Tip curve in the garage. I'll check when I get home.
  14. Cant tell if that was tongue and check or not. If not, I am pretty confident every single player in the NHL would be using that "special" profile.
  15. True offers a 5 lie P92 at retail, TC2.5, CCM and Warrior both offer something similar to the 92 with a 5-ish lie.
  16. @JAY_4114 stick to retail curves even when buying pro stocks. Custom player patterns are hit or miss. I'd say go with a P92. Everyone offers one and they are super easy to find. Well, unless you want a bauer p92 with a 5 lie... The Marner pro stocks I have seen look like P92's, sorry TC2's.
  17. Sounds like your footbed or innersole is what's moving. If you want to reduce the skates volume try some SuperFeet yellow. You'll need to re-bake the skates afterwards.
  18. Pasternak wearing the new Bauer skate tonight.
  19. Why not try a longer profile before you start drilling holes in a new pair of skates??? I know if done right it's not a problem. If done poorly it can permanently damage the skate and or alter it's life.
  20. How well do those apx's fit? I mean, the scanner is dropping you down a full size while putting you in a boot with a bit more volume. That sort of sounds like you may have added length to those apx's to compensate for a lack of depth or proper width. Just a thought... Don't look at the scan as a definitive answer. It's a starting point and there is always a secondary fit option. You still need to spend time trying them to be sure.
  21. @sko buffs looks a lot like Hornqvists' custom pattern. Which is fairly easy to find...in fact IW has some Hornqvist pro stocks. BTW, I am pretty much all in on the P90T/Benn Pro now. I liked the 28, I just couldn't get it to do certain things.
  22. Not in terms of testing. Think of it as zero-ing out the scale before weighing something. If you're collecting data to present in any sort of meaningful way, you need to zero out testers. I suppose you could record the model and flex of each testers current stick. Even then, each testers is sort of in a vacuum. Maybe you can make the argument that all testers using stick x as their current stick said stick y had better puck feel... Right now your data only means something to the subject. Your last comment is a really good indication of that. EDIT - Actually now that I think about it. Recording testers current stick along with their height, weight and level of play would be helpful. The end user could say, I want to see what 1N users thought about the FT3. Tire Rack does this with their customer reviews. You can sort reviews by vehicle type and or location.
  23. The real issue with this sort of testing is players tend to base their comments of a comparison to their current stick. That's a moving target and offers little to no baseline. What you should try to do is get testers to use a "control" stick before testing, something you know. All comments and opinions should be made in comparison to the control.
