Helmet Ads likely to stay past this season
Buzz_LightBeer replied to SirJW's topic in NHL Discussions
It seemed inevitable, but if it buys a few more years before jersey ads become a thing, it's not the hill i care to die on -

I didn't, i removed them, but i prefer a thin footbed and being right on top of the outsole and holder, and my foot has pretty high volume so negative space wasn't an issue -

I have flat feet, and used the cheap generic footbeds from Elite and really liked them. The right balance of volume and give. Elite Hockey, Ice Hockey Skate, Pro Insoles (Size Choice) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VEEUGLE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GFCV8ZGAEPVZ9QHWPGVR -

I get that, I think a message got lost in the exchange there. It seems implausible that True would refuse to send holders now if asked. It would seem more likely that True said he could get custom skates, or custom boots only, but the price remains the same. Aside from that, the retailer he's purchasing through should be handling all these issues for him. -

I have no motivation to defend True, but what are they doing so differently from Bauer and/or CCM? You are paying for a custom complete skate, the fact you don't like or want their holders means zero to them. None of those companies at the retail custom level will ship you boots only. -

Just playing devil's advocate here, but ask Bauer or CCM to install another companies holder, and I'm guessing you'll get the same answer. True has their own holder now. They're not going to stock Tuuk holders for Gen Pop custom orders -
extra lower back, kidney protection ?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to 218hockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
At that price, I’d definitely do those -

Jut thinking out loud, but wasn’t that a service they offered prior to having their own holder? I could see them offering to mount CCM, Bauer or Step holders previously but now that they have a holder/steel combo I can understand the restrictions. -
Quite nice. I tried an ADV Vapor and felt a little heft in the blade end that this doesn’t have. Haven’t gotten it on ice yet for a full go.

p91 to p28 feedbak and support
Buzz_LightBeer replied to getthekidthepuck's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I was always of the opinion that the P91 and P28 were of similar lie, length and shape, that the toe curve was the only adjustment. Not too difficult -

A&R water bottles/Under Armour Hockey Question
Buzz_LightBeer replied to CigarScott's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Are they thinner than the Pro Guard or Howie's models? I'm not overly familiar with it -
It really isn’t a drastic change at all, I’ve been experimenting on sets for 5 years or so. Guys have been using similar blades prior to these being marketed. It was a speed skating concept dating back to the late 90’s. there are enough reference points on the steel to align the sharpener, it’s a breeze. A light home with a rubber stone works.

https://jacksonskate.com/collections/jackson-ultima-outfits/products/softec-sport-men-v0 we used to sell a ton of these to kids learning to skate. It’s an easier transition from shoes to these to skates in my opinion. It’s less important to be hockey specific, focus first on skating, balance, and comfort on the ice. They also resell, and hand me down very well. They have a reasonably reliable size guide on the site, and I think you may even find these at Dicks as well

Couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this for sale on SLS. Blade isn’t in the greatest shape but I really didn’t care
