So I had to switch my current iphone 4 with a new one. I have a sim card as well.

Is there a way to import my contacts and emails sent from the old iphone4 to the new one? Can I save it on the sim card somehow, or itunes?

Also, no third party widgets either.

thx

You definitely can transfer the contact from iTunes, and I think you can check a box to transfer the emails from the phone to iTunes. If that's the case, you should be able to transfer the old emails back to the new phone.

plug the old phone in first, and make sure that, under the info tab in itunes, sync contacts and sync emails are checked. then hit sync in the bottom part of the window. when it's done, plug the new phone in and do a restore if you want everything to clone, or just sync it with the previously mentioned boxes checked for this phone as well. if it asks at any point, you want to merge those two with your existing address books.

Just downloaded/installed Gingerbread on my Droid X. The official Verizon version courtesy of Motorola. Should be available to everyone on June 1st if this test release bodes well.

Awesome. Hopefully this is a little less buggy than the early gb leaks. Honestly, the only reason I wanted gb so bad was to get the notification bar into a different color (its dark blue), but it really runs better than froyo.

For those that do want root on your X don't download this. 'TeamBlackHat' has an odexed and deodexed .596 (which is official gb) coming out soon. Along with an easy upgrade flash path from early versions (im on .588)

Also, anyone with an X or getting an X2. Verizon is/was running a deal for the release of the x2 that you could get the essentials accessory pack for 19.97

it includes a home dock, car dock, wall charger, hdmi cable, car charger. Its a pretty sweet deal. Was a lil hard for me to pull up at first but I just got it in the mail today.

So how is everyone liking Gingerbread on their Droid X? I wouldn't know...it bricked mine. %@%

Tried everything I possibly could Wednesday for a good six hours or so, until I finally had enough and took it to Verizon to see if there was anything they could do. After about five minutes with the phone, tech guy comes back out saying the phone is fried...luckily my grandparents' line was eligible for an upgrade they'll never use, so I walked out of the store with a Droid Charge, which I LOVE so far. 4G really is a lot faster than I thought.

Been happy with Gingerbread so far. Seems like things open a bit quicker. A few things I don't necessarily like or need such as the uber-bright hard buttons at the bottom. All in all it seems a step up from Froyo though. I'm not worrying about a 4g phone as it'll probably be a year or two before it's fully rolled out and by then I'm sure there'll be another newer, nicer phone. For now with 3g the X has been all I wanted and more.

My X did not brick but it was so laggy that I reflashed my phone. I re-rooted and found a root friendly version of gingerbread and im loving it so far!

Was it the official release that bricked it? If so, shouldn't they have been liable? My friend has an X (been trying to get him to root it for months now) and he loves it. Apparently the new Blur is really nice (not that ill ever use it). How is the Charge? Ive always been a bit nervous when it comes to Samsung because they are the slowest manufacturer to update android. I still got the OG running strong, but i'll finally swap it out when the Bionic comes out in August.

I forgot about the bionic. How is it compared to the X2? I'm on the original droid as well

Haha IF the bionic comes out. Lol. That thing has been postponed over and over.

I finally rooted my X and am running a custom rom with almost all blur deleted. Gingerblur was okay, but sucked on battery (better than group tho). Im getting MUCH better battery now.

I seriously doubt the ota bricked his phone, unless his battery ran out before it could have downloaded all files. But still a simple sbf should've fixed it. Odds are it was something else, as a few X's had problems with processors going bad (and other things, usually causing the screen to fade and only faint lines to appear).

These things are practically unbrickable.

The X2 is a droid X with a dual core processor and no physical camera button... thats about it.

The Bionic is probably going to be running an OMAP dual-core processor (plays nicer with LTE), slightly larger screen 4.5 qHD, 4G, front and rear cameras without that awkward hump the X's have. Oh and it'll be running Android 2.3.4. Pretty much its a boss phone. The make or break for me is if the bootloader is locked down or not. I refuse to run Blur. CyanogenMod and ADW launcher is the way to go.

It was postponed once. Lets at least be factual. Since your rooted I assume you have SetCPU? Set 2 profiles for your phone to run at minimum level, One when the screen it off at priority 0, and one when the battery is less than 5% at priority 100. Your battery life will double at least.

haha, i know, i was a lil overzealous with the postponing. It was just funny how all the android site/forums would have suspected release dates but no actual info.

And thanks for the tip! will definitely get that going! And agreed, ADW is awesome!

OK so I need help going with a phone. I'm due for an upgrade with Verizon later this month. I currently have a Blackberry 8330. My Fiancee has a Droid X, which in using has made me want to drop Blackberry altogether. I'm a huge data streamer, and basically run all my work email through my phone. Is the Droid X2 worth it over a Droid X like my Fiancee's? Is there something better that I'm missing? Give me your opinions!

depends what your needs are. Are one of those people that NEED the ultimate phone available? Data plan is all unlimited unless you wait till fall when they start their tiered program. 4g or 3g?

I don't NEED the ultimate phone. But I don't want a limiting piece of garbage (ie: my current Blackberry). I would imagine it would be 3G like hers, unless there is a MAJOR difference in 4G from 3G. Because I don't see the rationale in spending X amount more for the same features in a phone and a slightly faster connection.

i've been out of the cell phone loop. Are you saying that there is no longer going to be unlimited data?!?!? that is a HUGE problem for me

Might want to consider Sprint if that's the case.

I've got a huge dilemma myself; all I want is to continue using a webOS phone. PRoblem is, it most likely won't come out on Sprint. So, I would be sacrificing a very good Sprint rate and features to go to another carrier. AT&T would be comparable, but the horror stories with them...and Verizon is too underpowered features-wise and too expensive. Biggest deal for me is mobile-to-mobile minutes regardless of carrier, which both ATT and Sprint have.

I actually used to have sprint, but my Fiancee gets a huge discount with Verizon through her job at a local hospital. I had ATT before Verizon, and those horror stories are true, not to mention garbage Customer Service as well.

Well at the moment there is no pay difference between 4g and 3g service, but check to be sure you even are in a 4g market. I live an hour out from NYC and don't receive its 4g. I would probably go with the X2 if you don't get 4g, or the Droid Charge/Thunderbolt if you do. Those two will both be outdated in a year or two, but not like blackberrys are already. Heck, my OG Droid is 'outdated' and still prefer it to half the new phones out there now.

JR I'm not sure if this is an option but if a webOS phone comes out on another carrier why not look into purchasing an unlocked version?
