The Venting Spot

Recommended Posts

The interference was the first penalty, for when their guy ran into me after i played the puck.

I guess I was more mad that they couldn't tell it was a dive, than anything. I've had guys push me a whole lot harder than that in front of the net before. It wasn't even a shove, it was a push (shove implies some level of force, a push is just me trying to lean forward on him so I could get out of the crease, putting my weight on him to move him). I was SHOCKED when he went flying. Amazing theatrics, really.

Whatever, this is the venting spot, so I was venting. Horrible calls, but what can ya do? It's beer league.

The only two people who could tell it was a dive were you and the diver. Nobody else has the neural feedback, only visual perception. I hate divers.

Dallas sucks. I never saw myself moving any further south than where I was before and I can definately say my opinion has not changed. As soon as I finish school we are moving to WI or PA.. yeesh. I didn't think I'd miss being at the rink 6-7 days a wk but I about don't know what to do with myself with all this free time I'm not used to having. At least the guys on our beer league team are a blast to play and drink with, because that's about all I have to look forward to every week.

Had to put my dog down last night, saddest thing I've ever seen. She was 14 years and 7 months hold, started to develop breathing problems and muscular problems. She was barely able to get up (after lying down) under her own strength. I was kinda hoping she would've eventually passed away from just being to old, didn't want to have to put her down.

What part of town did you move to / what arena are you playing at? I moved here just over a year ago after living in Memphis for the last 3 1/2 years and I've had nothing but good experiences. If you need any advice on places to eat or hang out feel free to PM me.

Some guy was quitting at work two weeks ago apparently.

So during a really busy period of the day he walked over to our pod of desks while we were all standing and talking and were starting to sit down i see him walking to us.

He stopped two desks before mine where the Pod has the power outlets controlling all of our desks. He stared at it, looked up and around and made eye contact with me, smiled and kicked the fucking thing. ALL OF OUR COMPUTERS SHUT DOWN. I was in the middle of a call with a client and muted my phone and yelled "HEY what the eff is your problem!"

he kicked it again and and ran away, as he kicked it they all turned back on and instead caught on fire, mine started shooting out black smoke and then caught on fire. So i quickly called our IT guys and they ran over, saw what was happening and told us to dump the calls and quickly move to new desks.

Since i called it in i told everyone else what to do after being instructed on it.

Well the next day my boss walks up and says "we have a situation, i just got told to walk you out"

We quickly went to his desk and he showed me why, i stared at him very angry and said "dude thats when our desks caught on fire! how can they do this to me!?"

So he had an investigation opened to revert the firing and the main boss said 'nope it sticks, we're not using a technicality as an excuse for him'

So i asked my boss "ok dude, so there were 12 of us that had this happen to besides me. Did anything happen to them?"

'No, just you'

"ok, we'll see what happens next, thank you for sticking up for me but this is pure BS"

i stood up and walked away,

if you want to know the rest of the story, look in the "Sweet Spot" post, that one puts it best at how good it is now.

What happened sucks but tossing the f bomb around in the office never helps your situation.

Or on MSH. Once again, just because you're venting doesn't give you carte blanche to use profanity in this thread.

left them in the garage next to random stuff the dog got busted the door into the garage and tore them up pads out and everything

i was looking forward very much to noticing how much lighter I mightve felt on the ice with this purchase

instead my dog left me a nice mess to clean instead

Had a long conversation with some people at work today, either I will be on a long term medical leave of absence or I will be terminated next week. Either way, it looks like I'm going to have to start pinching my pennies.

The Dark Knight Rises: With about half-an-hour to go, I noticed a guy about three seats down start to text. I lean over and say, "Hey, man, put it away!" I found out from my wife that he had been texting the entire movie, but he was the caring sort who dimmed his screen while he carried on his saga.

Taken 2: A kid sits in the front of the theater, then twice pulls out his phone to show his buddy what was on Facebook, so everyone behind him could be distracted by the blue light. The first time I ran down and told him to put it away, but an hour later his phone was out and he was flashing it to his buddy again, so I ran down again and shook his chair this time as I told him to turn his phone off.

I could get away with it because I knew I was much bigger than the kid, but I am getting so tired of paying exorbitant prices, only to be distracted by idiots with cellphones. The amazing thing is the second kid seemed to have a surprised look that someone might be angry at a cellphone being used in a darkened auditorium. Once I got my iPhone, I began turning off the phone to remove all distractions -- calls, text and mail -- but when it was just a cellphone, I'd leave it on vibrate and know that I'd had a call during the movie. Pretty simple, except the one time my phone buzzed three times consecutively; I figured something was wrong, so on the third ring I went out into the hallway to answer the call. That seems to be pretty simple courtesy, but lost on a segment of the population.

All I'll say is the theaters better figure this out, because if I find one more time of an idiot thinking it's okay to ruin the experience for the rest of us, I think I'm going to be done with movies at the theater. I have a ten-foot screen and a hi-def projector; it may not be the same experience as seeing a movie when it's still newly released, but it's close enough.

Yep, try spending a couple hundred bucks on a concert ticket and having everyone in front of you hold up their cell phones to record shitty video/audio. It makes the movie theater stupidity less surprising.

Our theatres kick people out for doing it. Haven't had to personally single someone out but I've seen people escorted out before. As much as I hate these kinds of annoyances, I hate silence Nazis that bitch about noise during the pre-trailer bullcrap theatres show. I went to a re-screening of Jaws a couple months back and was talking to my friends (quietly) as the usual pre-trailer crap was on. It wasn't loud and we were trying to keep an eye out for a friend meeting us. An older lady that sat in front of me turned around and said "I'm trying to enjoy the movie." I just laughed it off but her husband looked annoyed with her. Then during the movie when people in our row tried to get out, she was the only one who didn't lean up so her seat back was out of the way. A couple girls stumbled trying to get past her, but when I saw a guy on crutches coming into our row and her seat didn't push up I just gave her seat back a nice firm push with my foot. It's too much of a hassle to see movies now, least of all with all our kids. Now we just take them to see kids' movies at a theatre-pub that has a more laid-back atmosphere.

I don't like people talking during the movie. When I hear them talking during the trailers, I will sometimes take the opportunity to give them a look, or say something. I don't trust them to shut up when the movie starts, so I want to get my objection registered when it won't take away from the movie, and hope they'll shut up at least by then.

Sitting at work (9am to 9pm shift today) and I have an absolutely monster migraine. Luckily the vision problems have passed already, but my left hand, left side of my face, and tongue are completely numb. Sensitivity to light, noise, and touch are also still here. Just praying a customer doesn't come in the remainder of the night. I struggle to speak clearly when they are this bad.

People are freakin insane. Is it going to be a bad storm? Yes, but holy moly you need to fight over loaves of bread & milk....

The fact it was walmart probably didn't help matters any.
