I know that the Laine curve has been available on the My Bauer site for a couple of years, but it can only be ordered with the Custom option and you need to buy at least 2 sticks for that.

Labeda gripper yellow are 80a and would probably work well for you. Konixx Pure +1 is officially 76a. Smooth concrete outdoor rinks tend to be super dusty usually, which plays a big part in the sliding out. Ime there is no wheel that prevents that. We used to rub the wheels down with alcohol which helps them grip a bit, but you have to do it every few shifts really.

The web site says Copyright 202, so rest assured this is a long established company. You don’t last 1819 years without providing quality products. There are countless off ice practice puck patents, yet this looks identical to Green Biscuit, so I guess the patent expired. I pay about $20 per Green Biscuit in the UK.

There's a certain Instagram knockoff company who offers it as well

The CCM V08 is the closet thing I can think of when it comes the Bauer 4500 "feel." I've been using the V08 for years now as an official and just bought another bucket for inline. Even though the Bauer 4500 was first helmet I used playing hockey, the V08 looks better in my opinion.

Its a freak accident but making a "better" helmet cost money. And last time I check, these businesses aren't around for charity. The "Cost Benefit" isn't there for companies to pour in mad $$$$$ for R&D to create said helmet. This is a brutal occurrence that RARELY happens. Every time we strap up to step on the ice, there is always a chance that we won't make it. It sounds crazy only because odds are high stacked in our favor that we can return to the locker room and complain how much we stink ha. This is always an opportunity to be thankful for being alive. Technology will always improve but it can't prevent death 100% of the time. That's the harsh reality of sports and life.

Howdy, In your history with the sport, has there ever been a time when you've supported an increase in safety via equipment improvements? I ask because this seems to be your attitude with every safety advance topic that I recall you commenting on. When a player gets hit in the head by a puck and dies, it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask the question "Can helmets be better and prevent this type of thing?" And then, you know, actually see if there's a way to make it better vs. just dismissing it as a fluke thing and we're all going to die anyway, so get over it. Mark

There have been 2 careers ended by fluke pucks near the ear. There have been a stunning number of careers ended due to concussions, and many more that should have been. Ask Marc Savard and Paul Kariya how they recovered from concussions.

ha, I remember using that Sonic grip juice spray like crazy on wheels trying to get better grip on smooth concrete, I'm not sure if it helped or not.

Twice that we have ever heard of given the millions of times a puck is shot/dumped/deflected/etc constitutes practically never in my book and probably anyone else who actually objectively looks at risk through a rational lense. i didn’t comment on what i WANT helmet companies to do, I have no reason to want them to do anything. My comment is about what is going to drive their product decisions. Unlike concussions, there is not a problem the market sees that would warrant a new product to solve. You can’t eliminate risk in many cases, you decide how much residual risk you are comfortable with.

Laine is more similar to P14 than P28

Sadly, I saw this game live on the MHL YT channel. In the context of the game, it really didn't look like much. In fact, the other players didn't seem too concerned. I commented to my wife I had been hit in a similar spot (but a teammate shot) in Juniors (and we didn't wear facemasks). It resulted in sewing the upper front of my ear back, but not until the ER reshaped the ear with a hammer. Painfully, this tragedy was a one in a million thing that just happened. Even with good equipment, playing the game properly, there is a risk, however small, that something bad can happen. It's not time to preach re-engineering of the helmet, rule changes, or anything else. It's best to reflect on how fragile life can be, and to try to be good humans. RIP. 19 years old. Tragic.

V08 from my experience is the closest. I wore 4500's back in the day and then switched to V08's which I wear now. I've tried the Resistance 100 which was way too square/round, not very oval, and also have an IMS9 which just doesn't feel quite right, it feels ok at first but I can never get past 10 minutes without it getting uncomfortable.

I went through exactly this a few months back. The CCM V08 was recommended to me and it fit great. Really like it so far. The Tacks 110 was also recommended and while I didn’t try that specific model, I did try the 310 and 710 and didn’t like either. They pinched the back of my head near the adjustment spot

For fit I think the IMS 9.0 or reakt vvn pro is pretty close. For the same foam the V08 from what I’ve seen mentioned elsewhere on the internet. That’s why I don’t have a 4500, i hate the adjustment.

I utterly despise guys who go the high route with dumps, especially in beer league.

Looks like the mid 90's Supreme 3000 was the all time favorite skate of Daryll Sutter, not a bad choice at all.

Graf Supra 707 skates were my jam for a majority of my life. Second would be Bauer Nexus 1000.
