  1. Tried this last year..... liked it even. Elevate Hockey https://www.elevatehockey.net/
  2. Just packing up alot of crap and wanted to show a few things .... Plus have another pair of near brand new s15's and vape 40's that need some ideas....... https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/b7pbric40j11w4cnre3g3/h?rlkey=5z5jxxonn8824fii9m4caw5i6&dl=0
  3. Players Using This Curve: a lot of old-timers that used it from 2000-2014 🤣🤣🤣
  4. +1 for True Shift holders. Coming from LS2's.
  5. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents into this discussion.... I prefer low kick over mid kick as I can feel the lag in my shooting and passing. To me, it is very noticeable. And if I understand what was said correctly earlier , the blade opening up on low kick because of kick point and shaft shape makes sense thinking back to any time it has happened to me. Whenever I try to tell people how I think kick points work ,I always said low kick makes it easier to shoot with just arms only or with the least amount of effort and still get a decent shot off. Nevermind the fact that flex hasnt even been factored into the equation. As for flex, early on most beer league players only used stiffer sticks because super soft, whippy sticks break down, or flat out break faster than stiff ones. Hockey is an elite sport that costs alot and not everyone could afford to blow through twigs. Pros are a completely different animal as they can afford a new twig every period if they wanted. Performance is priority for pros. Money is no object. Also, technically the stiffer the flex you can bend while shooting the harder the shot. I'm 6' , 230lbs. Give or take a few pounds. 😉Been using a 100 flex most of my life, now down to a custom PRO 95 flex LK. Everytime I move down to experiment with 85 flex , every aspect of using a stick except for shooting suffers. Long and hard passes, face offs, corner battles. In my 40 plus years of playing the game we all love, I conclude that I dont believe that kick points are all hype. Having said that, I have minimal experience with variable kick, old easton shaft mainly ,but jetspeed recently was decent. I would like to think that if I try a mid kick stick again, the flex needs to be stiffer to negate the lag I feel. Just one players experience.......
  6. Update..... Enjoyed my test pair. Ordered custom Shift dlc coated pair. Just having a small issue with the radius as I seem to keep tilting forward on the 9 foot front part of the profile anytime someone comes in contact with my skate. Usually use 11 foot single radius with +2 forward pitch. Have had a few too many headers resulting in eating the ice because of it. The runners are as good as any others I have used including Step. Where they stand apart that no other runners do is in impact on my body. Definitely jumping the boards. More importantly is my joints(ankles, knees, and hips) are not as sore after ice times. The only thing I have not paid as much attention too , (as I am gonna figure out my radius poblem first) is if the runners are putting a little pep in my step. To sum up, happy with purchase. Would recommend. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/91mxe8igqbvgp6t/AAAjx9MH8b-zDsnp2YIlv61_a?dl=0
  7. Used it 3 more times.... Nothing new to report, never got better. In the end , will stick with my trusty Blade tape. Use with caution.
  8. Finally got my hands on some , 35$ CAD for 2 sets at Pro Hockey Life in Winnipeg. Went to a stick and puck and put them on too low. Which is sad as a long time Blade Tape user. 😐Snow started to get underneath the bottom edge on my back hand and came flapping off 20 mins in to the session. Was not sticky enough to just pat back down so I just peeled it off and put it on the bench. Front one fared better but built up a ton of snow throughout the 90 mins session. Found myself cleaning it more than I would have liked. Although the front piece was positioned ...ok... eventually snow started getting under the edge of the heel by the end of the session. Also, I actually found it less grippy then my buds 10 game old tape job with wax. Still glad I tried it though. In the end , first impression is not good. Found it much less forgiving to apply and no recourse if it peels up off the blade in any manner. Shooting was normal as if I were using my trusty ole' Blade Tape. Stick handling was good until wetness and snow build up happened , then I found my stick handling getting more sloppy. But that can be partially attributed to my lack of ice time over the last 4 months. Will try it for a few more ice times so it gets a fair shake and go from there before rendering a final decision.
  9. Great discussion...... want to try this for training. On a side note, when i was a teenager playing rep i got a puck in the ankle and stupidly untied my skate in between periods. Ended up having to play the last period with one skate untied. And as funny as it may seem, i remember playing quite well. But, who knows, lol. Memory is funny like that.
  10. At first glance to OP post , it sounds like stick height off ice and flex on ice. I exclusively use low kick , about 90-95 flex after setting up stick from retail spec. Whenever i try mid kick with the same set up, everything seems to take longer and i overbend , or overload , however you perceive it, with passing and shooting on ice. Side note.... think if i tried mid kick again i would go with a stiffer flex. But take this with a grain of salt as i use bladetape/ rezztek type blade covering so my blade bottom is exposed and slides freely on the ice. Also , i do not do alot off ice shooting but i would think i need to shorten my stick and possibly change the flex hence the starting comment. Good luck figuring it out.
  11. Reviving..... Thanks to Jeff for being here, great conversation. Just bought a used pair off sideline for edge holders. Get them in a week or so. Will buy new for my new Shift holders if they pan out( which i really hope they do). Very interested. Will chime back in after a month or so, playing once or twice a week. Cheers
  12. Had/have the same problem. Sort of fixed it by getting into MX3's, new lacing system gave sufficient space but eventually wasnt enough and had to give it a small punch. I believe most new vapors by bauer solve this problem. Customs is another route but there is no answer to fixing it in your skate short of some custom work the will give some reprieve possibly... but for how long? And how much$? It does look as if you are tight on volume but it is easy to pass the pencil test and not have enough volume still as this inner ankle issue doesnt always affect volume. Just my thoughts....
  13. I wear high socks(Bauer kevlar)and the tongue thing is always an issue...... usually cut off the felt on the edge. Ankle socks and small shins for flopping tongues are safety issues in competitive play. Have played in 4 games where guys who flop and wear short or no socks have sliced their ankle/leg with their own skate. Mostly battles in corners is where it occurs. All ended up in the hospital. Alternatively , short shins also leave you open to taking a shot of the high ankle. I don't know about other players but I hate being injured or hurt so I stopped flopping when I was 14 after getting hurt. When I use to fit skates I would find ppl always said there was a pressure point right where the end if their ankle sock was ..... which ended up surprising most. As for the holders I still use LS2's and was aiming at True or CCM for my next as I know the Edge goes soft within a year from regular use. They need the custom option for .....basically I want a vapor shaped quarter with injected lacing, Supreme flex profile along with the tendon guard from the Supreme line. Then just change out the edge holders and steel.
  14. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/m92cp0zfc3y03ic/AACXzRbnFjbV0ghYotFwwUMXa?dl=0 IMHO it is a traditional/habit thing. Ppl hate change. Superstitious ppl really hate it. Which leads to athletes who have or get into routines and don't want things to be different if it worked at least a cpl of times. But my understanding of a big knob on the end was probably more of a " so my stick cannot just be ripped out of your hand" kinda thing when it was first done. Lol Imagine the first guy to put the big knob on the end and all the players laughing at him.
  15. Easier to take care of your visor if it is a removable clip model. Every game I pull mine off , put into my helmet bag(now a visor bag) and jam it inside my helmet so it is always protected while being transported or just sitting in my bag. For most ppl(hockey players) I would think it seems like extra effort but alas I have only bought 2 visors in the last 6 years( assuming the first Bauer clip model came out 6 yrs ago) or so.
  16. Anything but black. Do you only wear black shoes? At the highest level of hockey , presumably the fastest , white for function. Now this only matters at the highest levels because of the speed. Easier to find a black object on a white surface. Any other level , any color , as gaining mere milliseconds in beer league doesn't matter. But for most players it's all linked to learned preference or a deeper issue really. Now the % may vary player to player but in the end.... Slight discrimination. That's why 90% of players always say they will hack and slash , or generally give players a hard time for being different when said players wear 'not' black skates , or white gloves , or a smoked/mirrored visor that make them stick out. Even worse is that some players only accept that player if they are really good but even then .... Hope for the best. Like Monty making fun of my name as it connects to me saying something different then the norm. But I am that guy. Not to mention it seems no one now's why skates should be black. 🤨
  17. I'm in agreement here.... Bad idea to change a fundamental connection for safety. Adapt and overcome. As hard as that may be.
  18. Skate design needs to move on from black being the primary color IMHO.
  19. Would recommend OP check out Base as rumor has it the P30 from CCM is now discontinued on all new sticks moving forward. Which leaves you with only Pro stock , older models , and custom. Sad to think retailers will only offer 3 curves at some point on all sticks. Slowly but surely. Well that's where it seems to be heading anyways.
  20. Saw these 2 days ago as Sport check here already has them out for sale.
  21. Now as much as I enjoy the unbridled enthusiasm of the icewarehouse guys and the awesome sickness of their review. I seem to not get as much from their vids as I do actually discussing the detail so in saying that.....More in depth details of the upgraded specs? Weight? Differences between Ek15, and the 365? Etc... And thank you for the video Collins. Quenched my thirst a lil for my favorite line of sticks that is still made.
  22. Figured as much.... Just thought I would check.
