Hey y'all, Thanks to your comments I decides to test the Verbero puck and the new hoplite puck. I was impressed with how well the Verbero puck slid but the bouncing after ringing off the post or boards was killing me at times. I really was overall impressed with the hoplite puck! Hoping good things for the future of it!

Not sure how much you've been following vh or true skates but these skates aren't like any other off the shelf skates. You HAVE to bake them. Even the custom skates which are made for your feet, you HAVE to bake them otherwise they don't even feel like they were made for your feet. The small mom and pop shops are the only ones id go to for fittings. Big box stores, nope. I can also vouch for bsharp. I follow them on IG and heard great things from them from buddies in Ottawa.

If in Ottawa you should be going to BSharp to be fitted. All stores have been given all the information to do the fittings properly. Sounds like they didn't bother to do the fitting seminar online.

I assumed CCM was gonna do this when they went back to the Tacks name. But, I guess not enough old people buy skates, and young people don’t want skates that look like Grandpa’s.

I bought both my current sticks on clearance for half the normal retail price. If you don’t mind the previous season’s kit you can save a good wodge. But you do have to wait until they go on sale, and move quick.

Techniflex elbow pads are the standard by which I measure all others. I don't know why companies can't make a quality, flexible 3 piece elbow pad anymore.

Gloves for sure. Keep the modern tech, but give me old school color schemes. Modern gloves are boring and drab. I loved those tan mitts the Stars wore for that outdoor game, same for the throw back Jets gloves from the heritage classic. An old school CCM bucket would be badass. Give me one of those with modern day padding. Don't skimp, I want the red and blue CCM logo too.

Been there, done that, including going to china and sourcing sticks. Regardless of who you buy from, you get what you pay for and no warranty (unless you lock them up in a supply agreement and even then it can be risky). If you want a cheap stick with dubious performance and durability and no other expectations (other than the graphics you want splashed on it) then go for it, aliexpress has have lots for sale and your purchase is covered if it doesn't turn up. If you are looking for a cheaper stick with known performance, warranty etc then look at all black sticks or similar, they take the risk of dealing with chinese manufacturers.

@mojo122 or someone else will have to confirm. We dont have any intermediate Ultrasonics in stock at this time and will likely not be getting any as its too costly of a skate to stock and I would personally rather push a player to CCM or TRUE at that price. Yes, as you can probably guess. I am partial to CCM and TRUE over Bauer for skates. The CCM 90-day satisfaction guarantee has been a huge benefit to many customers looking to buy a top end skate.

So the group that I play with has slowly started a month ago with precautions. Got word last week that someone might have been exposed so everyone needs to get tested. So I guess I'll delay the comeback a bit.
