  1. So there are fake Bauer sticks. What about other Bauer products? Do they fake any of the protective gear or just sticks?
  2. Sure. If they're adults maybe more than 90%. My son was in a checking tournament this weekend, we didn't make it through all four games without switching blades. But I think a good quality blade like Step would be more resistant to game damage as well as just keeping a good edge over time.
  3. In the Bauer video I found it amusing when they said something like 50% are one Fit, 35% another and 15% in Fit 3 or something. So they're saying off the shelf Bauer skates fit 100% of buying public. We've done the 3D scan and it recommended 7.5 Fit 1, which my son couldn't even get on his feet. I believe he has a slightly wide forefoot, narrow heel, and a high instep. As well as left foot 1/4-1/2 size bigger than right. He was in a Nexus, then a Supreme EE, and now Supreme 2S Pro 8D. It seems as his feet got longer they aren't as proportionality wide. Anyway, found a possible deal on a pair of 2X Pro 8.5 Fit 2.
  4. What is the difference between the 2X Pro D width and the Fit 2? Is that a dumb question? Is there a crossover period there where they made both fit systems in the same model line?
  5. Since the skates are called HyperLite you'd think we'd be told exactly how much lighter they are than the 2X Pro.
  6. Clamp the heel?
  7. One size fits shoe size 5-13? Whaaat?
  8. Injection molded not available on custom UltraSonic? I can't believe that. Not very "custom" then.
  9. I wonder about the Bauer "Own The Moment" store? Or I should say "Bauer Hockey Experience" since being acquired Pure Hockey in 2020. The Minnesota store has a great Performance Lab leader in Romeo Vivit. All Blackstone equipped store so maybe get a FireBall but certainly not changing over to all automated.
  10. Put your skates in a washing machine!
  11. I sharpen skates for one other family and both pairs of their skates are the cheapest, non removable steel. They're always gouged up pretty bad, especially of they've been outside. To get rid of these imperfections completely you'd be cross grinding a mm off every time. Also, not sure if this is my imagination but I think the Fire edge is more prone to contact damage. ???
  12. I can't believe this isn't already happening. It just makes sense.
  13. I see they are on the Bauer markdown list and nearly all sizes depleted at the big online hockey stores. So no Speed plate 3.0? I'd like a lighter version of the 2.0 that doesn't crack.
  14. That's great, but where would a guy buy it? Some of this product is so obscure. Why doesn't Pure Hockey or Ice Warehouse stock them? I can go down to the local hardware store and buy CCM or Bauer.
  15. Byonic? Sure, another unicorn like the Massive Blade I finally gave up trying to find. 🦄
  16. Some really good ideas. Thanks guys. I never would have thought to add on to shoulder pads with the bottom of an old set. Brilliant.
  17. Hello, My son got cross checked in his last game right between the shoulder pads and the breezers. He's layed up now and going to miss four games this weekend. The docter commented on how his rib cage was slightly extended/longer than most. What is a good way to protect this part of the body? Just taller breezers/pants? I'm not looking for lower back support, just need a little more protection.
  18. So with a ProSharp profile and machine how do they do that? Would I just ask for the profile to be touched up, or is it a specific item on their price list? Reprofile? I'm just trying to understand that process.
  19. He likes them for sure. It's hard to get quality feedback out of a middle schooler! We'll throw throw the LS5 back on for practice tomorrow for comparison.
  20. No, you're correct. I just finished up and needed about 12 on the BT blades. My son will be home from practice in a bit, we'll see what he says. !!!
  21. Who has experience sharpening new runners on the Sparx? Bladetech, just off of the Prosharp profiler. Ten passes?
